Many people have no clue to what natural gas smells like, so how can they recognise if they have a gas leak? Chemical compounds are placed in the natural gas to give it an odour, and most often it smells like rotten eggs. This odour was chosen to ensure that when a person smelled it, they would be alerted to a problem. People trained in utility services, including plumber services, have equipment and havebeen taught skills to recognise and locate leaks in a gas line. (more…)

Plumbing Sydney – Tree Roots Growing In Sewer Pipes
Tuesday, March 9th, 2010Are my Neighbours Trees or the Trees Growing Out the Front of My Property have Roots Growing in my Sewer Pipes?
Trees that send roots into sewer lines are one of the major plumbing concerns, especially in homes built over twenty years ago. Trees are equipped with water finding capabilities that send tiny roots in every direction in a quest for water. The trenches where there are sewer lines do not usually have hard packed soil. Roots gravitate to this loose soil. When these roots invade from trees growing out the front of your property or from across the street and get into the sewer system, it is time to call in the professionals who do plumbing Sydney that know how to deal with a blocked drain. No hot water during the long hot summer?
Monday, January 11th, 2010Welcome to 2010.
Over the Christmas and New Year period we have been called to rescue people with all sorts of plumbing emergencies!
Burst water pipes, blocked sewer drains, leaking taps and toilets are commonplace, but, here at the height of summer calls for help for running hot water is at an all time high!
I can’t turn my water meter off!
Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009If you have a plumbing emergency, you have running water in your house, a split tap washer or burst water heater and your water meter won’t turn off.
You may be in trouble!
If your meter tap has a tee-head on it, turn it off in a clockwise direction as firmly as you can. Firmly, don’t overdo it.
If your meter tap is missing the tee-head, get a large pair of grips and turn it off in a clockwise direction as firmly as you can. Firmly, don’t overdo it.
Open a garden tap to let out the pressure.
Then call an emergency plumber!
Check out this video below showing what we do to upgrade your water meter control valve.

HELP! I’ve got a burst pipe in my bathroom!
Sunday, December 20th, 2009This post is relevant to a Randwick plumbing emergency that happened yesterday.
We had an SOS from a long term client “Joan”
You could hear the panic in her voice, “Come quickly, we have a burst water pipe under our vanity basin and we can’t turn the water off” screamed Joan.
Is your floor waste drain clear? we asked. Yes Joan replied!
We told her how to minimise the water damage, shut the cupboard doors and direct the gushing water towards the floor drain and put a towel across the doorway to keep the water flow in the bathroom.
We were at the house within 15 minutes, and with a large pair of grips, we were able to slow down, but not stop the water flow.
Now, a picture paints a thousand words and this short video will actually take you there.
Please watch and learn.

Expensive Kitchen Sink Repairs
Sunday, October 18th, 2009During Advanced Business Mastery I had the pleasure to meet Peter August from Australian Bullion Company. www.austbullionco.com.au
Peter’s knowledge of Gold and other precious metals had us all amazed, and his wealth of experience with stories about the mystical and precious metals he deals in.
In the early 1980s when the price of gold was around $400 per ounce. I was called to help an elderly lady with a blocked sink. I removed all the usual cleaning products; Detergent, sponges and a nest of plastic bags.
Two of the plastic bags were surprisingly heavy to lift.
I needed both hands and all my strength to lift these two bags onto the kitchen bench. Inside both the bags was a gold bar roughly the size of a house brick. I felt I was in Aladdin’s cave! The elderly lady was standing over my shoulder. She didn’t offer…. and I didn’t ask. I went out to the truck to get some more tools and when I came back in, the bags and their precious contents were gone.
Based on the standard mass of a gold bar and the price at the time, I estimate that one of those bars would have been worth about $160,000.
Meeting Peter reminded me of this story. After retelling it to him, he pointed out that earlier this month (September 09) gold had reached a price of US$1000 per ounce, and then estimated that one of those bars would have been worth at least US$400,000.
Not a bad mornings work.
